Pumpkin is a fruit within the gourd family that is typically hard, round and orange with smooth, curved skin. Pumpkin is a great source of fiber for cats and dogs. The soluble fiber in pumpkin flesh slows digestion and can help manage diarrhea in pets by absorbing water.

The seeds of pumpkins are also nutritious. They are great source of protein, fiber, iron, copper, magnesium and more. Pumpkin seeds are also rich in an amino acid called cucurbitin which paralyzes and eliminates worms in the digestive tract.
